Ever have a doily hankering???

Hey y'all! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year's Day!! I have been super busy with family time and haven 't really been in my craft room much. But I did play around with the sweet ladybugs from the Love You Lots hostess set and the Jars of Love Stamp set as well. I used an old doily for the background because the new doilies I ordered from the occasions catalog aren't here yet. I had a doily hankering and when you have a doily hankering, you MUST act upon it!!! You know what I mean...

I used my blender pens and the watermelon wonder ink pad to color the sweet friends in the jar. I used the watermelon wonder in stacks paper collection for the background paper. A bit of white ribbon and a sentiment from Rose Wonder and this card was done! Doily hankering satisfied! hahaha.

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 21 - Ferrero Rocher Candy Treat Holder

Welcome back y'all! Does everybody on the planet but me love these Ferrero Rocher candies?? I am not a fan of chocolate, so I have never had a desire to try them. But one day, I grabbed some to put in the kids stockings for Christmas. I had an extra one, so I unwrapped it and popped it in my mouth. Lesson learned!!!!! DO NOT toss an entire unknown item into your mouth whole! Lick it, try a tiny bite, at the very least smell it! For the love of all things holy!!!!!! I wanted to lick a cheese grater to get the taste out of my mouth. I debated drinking bleach. In all seriousness, they really weren't for me. My kids adore them, though, so I knew I had to make a holder for them for their stocking stuffer. I saw this one on pinterest (my favorite place in the world) and so I made some.

It was very simple to make. 2 pieces of mint macaron card stock. 1 measuring 2 x 6 and one measuring 2 x 4 1/2. I also used 2 pieces of designer series paper. 1 measuring 4 1/4 x 1 7/8 and 1 measuring 1 7/8 x 1 7/8.

Take your piece of card stock that measures 2 x 6 and score on the 6'' side at 1 1/4, 1 3/4, 3 3/4, and  4 1 /4. You will punch a 1 1/2 hole in the square that was created between the two narrow rectangles. You will also punch a coordinating circle from the center of the 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 square of designer series paper. Adhere the designer series paper to the card stock. Add adhesive to the rectangle end of the card stock and create your base.

Punch one end of the 2 x 4 1/2 piece of card stock with the scalloped tag topper punch. Do the same with the 1 7/8 x 4 1/4 piece of designer series paper and then adhere them together creating a layered look.

Adhere the layered tag to the square base and pop in your candy. I tied a bow around it and used the circles I punched out for a sentiment.

If you are more of a visual learner like I am, you can watch the video here.

(Plus, I am not the best of instruction writers)

Monday we will be starting a new series all about watercolor! It will incorporate some Christmas as we continue our countdown and segue into other occasions!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 14 - Wine Glass Chalkboard Package

My daughter is a wine connoisseur and as soon as I saw these sweet chalkboard clips, I knew I had to get them for her. I found them in the dollar section of my local craft store, but I saw many different types of chalkboard clips at my local Wal-Mart's craft section also!

You can use any chalkboard clip that you like for this project. I placed 2 inside of each celophane bag.

I cut a piece of delightful dijon card stock to 4 x 4 and scored it at 2 and then folded it in half. I then stapled that piece to the top of a celophane bag. If you don't want your staples to show, adhere the DSP after you staple the card stock to the bag. If you want the staples visible, adhere the DSP beforehand.

I cut two pieces of the warmth and cheer DSP to 3 7/8 x 1 7/8. They layered nicely on top of the delightful dijon card stock.

I used the sentiment from the balloon celebration stamp set and stamped it on whisper white. I cut it from the smallest circle of the stitched shapes framelits. I layered a scalloped circle from delightful dijon and a plain circle from cherry cobbler. These were both cut using the layering circles framelits.

The flower is from the blooms and wishes stamp set. I stamped it twice in cherry cobbler ink onto whisper white card stock and fussy cut them both out. I layered one on top of the other to form my "poinsettia" I added a few enamel shapes to the center of the flowers and it was all finished!

If you want to watch the video, you can do so here.

I sure hope she will like these. I know I enjoyed making them for her.

Come back Friday for a Santa Toy Box!!!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 11 - Post it Note Holder

Hey y'all! Thanks for joining me for another Countdown to Christmas project!! Today we will be making a Post it note holder that would be a good for a teacher or coworker as a small gift.

You will need a piece of card stock that measures 1/4 x 7 3/4 and a piece of DSP that measures 3 1/8 x 3.

Score on the 7 3/4 side at 3 1/8, 3 5/8, 4 1/8  Fold and burnish all of the score lines. Take a pair of snips and cut the center piece twice so that you make a "slot" for the pen. That is very difficult for me to explain in writing, so you may be better off watching the video for that part.

To watch the video, click here.

I used the stitched shapes framelits to cut the circle for my gingerbread boy to rest on. I adhered everything flat to the holder because I didn't want anything popping off if someone were to transport this in a purse or a bag. I used tear and tape for my adhesive.

The paper mate pens were purchased at Staples. They are ink joy minis. I'm sure you can find mini pens just about anywhere.

See y'all Friday for a 'BEARY' special project!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 10 - Faux Washi Tape Card

Hey y'all, thanks for stopping by! TGIF!!! Today we will be making this gorgeous card using a faux washi tape technique.

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest and the designer used washi tape for the background. I didn't have any festive washi tape at the time, so I decided to make my own using designer series paper. I happened to have a bunch of scraps lying around from previous projects, so I just trimmed them up a bit to make them different widths. You could just cut your paper into thin strips to achieve the same result. Then I die cut the deer from the Santa's Sleigh thinlets from Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper. Tie a red bow from some bakers twine and pop him on the card with dimensionals. Very simple.

If you want to watch the video, you can do that here.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and I'll see you on Monday!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 9 - Santa Book

Anybody else have a hard time keeping up with Christmas lists, who you have bought for and who you haven't? Man, this time of year is hectic for me! And I am a list maker by nature. So, I thought I'd make myself a cute notebook to house all things Christmas.

I thought the sentiment from the Pun Intended hostess set was perfect!! Since I'm not too bright and need a notebook to keep all of my stuff together, I couldn't resist using it!

I found tiny composition books at my local Wal-Mart and just covered them with the presents and pinecones DSP. I didn't do any technical with the measuring, just wrapped the piece of DSP around the notebook to get a rough idea of how big I needed the paper. Then I just adhered the paper straight to the book and trimmed it off around the book. Again, nothing fancy. I added some whisper white organza ribbon on the side and popped a cookie cutter santa on the front.

If you want to watch the video, you can do so here.

Tomorrow we will be making a beautiful card, so come back and see me sometime!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 8 - Candy Cane Kisses

MMMMMMMMM... Candy Cane Hershey Kisses........Do y'all LOVE these candies?? I wait all year just so I can get my hands on them. They are the only thing better than caramel candy corn. (Which I am on my last bag, by the way)

I thought I had better find a way to package these babies up so I could let everyone else enjoy them too! I know, I'm such a giver...It was super easy to do after seeing everyone posting about last month's paper pumpkin kit! These test tubes are so trendy right now. And if you tie some of the real red stitched edge ribbon 'round the top... it makes them FAB! The tin of tags stamp set has this adorable sentiment that reads "Warm wishes and mistletoe kisses" I just couldn't resist using that for this project! Oh... and I used the BRAND SPANKING NEW stitched shapes framelits for the whisper white circle. Do you have these? If not, you better RUN, because they are available NOW! What's that you say? I KNOW!!!!! They were not set to release until next catalog... BUT Stampin' Up loves us! And let us get them in advance. And not just demonstrators... everyone!!! *golf clap*
PLUS the tin of tags is on sale until the end of the month for $15.75. Holy mess. If you follow me you have seen/will see this set on almost ALL of my Christmas projects. It is SO VERSATILE!

If you want to hear me babble about on video and watch this project come to life, click here.

Come back again and we will make something else absolutely adorable, just for funsies. ;-)

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 6 - Home Decor Stand

Hey y'all!!! Thanks for joining me today for another Countdown to Christmas video! Here I took a Halloween stand that I found at my local craft store and turned it into a small home accent piece.

I just love these tiny easels! I think they turned out quite nice and would make a cute accent for a Christmas shelf or a nice small gift to a co worker or child's teacher.

I used the Candy Cane Lane DSP for the background and the images. Did you know the Candy Cane Lane DSP has these cute images that you could cut out and use on your cards and projects? Who knew!?!?!?!

I used the sentiment from the Picture Perfect stamp set because I thought it was appropriate for my family. I punched it out with the banner builder punch and adhered it to the left hand corner of the frame. Very simple and very cute!

I may see a bookmark holder in our future....

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 4 - Joy to the World

Hey Y'all... Here's our double ''duty'' card. Haha. I'm so juvenile. This card is a countdown to Christmas AND a stash in a flash. It is simple, yet elegant and I absolutely love it.

It features the Tin of Tags stamp set which is on sale right now. Go grab yours at 25% off!!!
I love using soft sky with snowflake images. I think it is the perfect color!

I added a few of the star subtles enamel shapes just to add a bit of bling to this card.

If you want to watch the video, you can do that here

Tomorrow we will be making a sweet bookmark from the cookie cutter Christmas set!!

Until next time...

Countdown to Christmas - Day 2 - Joy Card

Hey y'all! Welcome back to day 2! Today we are using the lush fabulous foil designer acetate to create a gorgeous Christmas card. We will also be using the Vintage leaves stamp set. I know, I know. Vintage Leaves??? That's autumn... fall... nature... TOTALLY non-Christmas! Ahhh, take heart, young grasshopper... I shall lead the way! We will make them into holly leaves. Gasp! Holly leaves, you say? Indeed!

Take a gander...

I'm not one to say "I told you so".... But, ...... See, I told ya!!!

Look at the awesome acetate paper on the white card stock with the green "holly" leaves. How cool is that???? The other thing I love about the acetate paper is that it is gold on one side and silver on the other. So it will match with EVERY project. I hate it when my patterned paper has gold embellishments in it and my design incorporates the color silver. Or vice versa. But, alas, young grasshopper, this paper solves that problem! I used the owl builder punch to make the berries. The largest circle in the punch was the perfect size for this. I also used the word "Joy" from the wonderful wreath framelits.

Wanna watch this project come together? Of course you do... You know you do... So click here.

Until next time...

31 Days of Halloween - Day 31 - Small Candy Corn Box

Well, this is it... Day 31... The last entry. The final chapter. The Omega. The small candy corn box.

I saved my favorite candy for last. The caramel candy corn. Mylanta it is wonderful!! I ate several bags of it this season. VERY BIG BAGS. I am not proud of this statement, but it is a fact, nonetheless. It will be a sad day when the season is over and these brilliant candies are no longer available. The only upside is that after these go away, the candy cane hershey kisses come out. Oh the sweet pounds my body will be packing on this year! I can go without salt, carbs, and even real food. But the candy... sweet, glorious candy is my downfall. My husband can tell you that I have gone all day and not eaten a bite of food. But I have to eat my candy. I am sure diabetes is in my future.

This project is a cute way to give a small amount of the precious candy corn to someone. I feel like Smeagol from Lord of the Rings... MY PRECIOUS...

You will need a piece of 6x6 DSP, an envelope punch board, some adhesive, a cellophane bag, some twine to tie up said cellophane bag, the thoughtful banner bundle, Halloween enamel dots and some candy of your choice.

For instructions on how to put the box together click here.

I hope y'all have enjoyed this series. I have sure enjoyed all of the laughs!

Until next time...

Stash in a Flash - BYOP

Hey y'all! Welcome to a BRAND NEW series I am calling Stash in a Flash! This is a series where I will help you create something for your stash in a flash. In each video, we will make a project in ABOUT 5 minutes from start to finish. These will be all occasion, minimal supplies and just like me... extremely random. HA!

Today's project is a birthday card that uses the Number of Years and the BYOP stamp sets.

The card on the left was my example, the card on the right was the one I made on the video. ( I think I get nervous when I see the timer going!!!)

The card stock I used was:

Whisper White: 3 7/8 x 5 1/8
Rich Razzleberry: 4 x 5 1/4
Pacific Point: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Melon Mambo: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
Thick Whisper White: 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2

I used the coordinating ink colors for the flowers and the sentiments.

On the card that I made in the video, I used some melon mambo stitched ribbon on the bottom of the card.

If you want to watch the video, you can do that here.

Until next time...

Jen

Supplies:

Melon Mambo Ink Pad                                Old Olive Ink Pad                            Pacific Point Ink Pad

Melon Mambo Card Stock                   Pacific Point Card Stock                   Rich Razzleberry Ink Pad

Thick Whisper White Card Stock                                                 Rich Razzleberry Card Stock                   Whisper White Card Stock

Number Of Years Stamp Set                                                     B.Y.O.P Stamp Set                         Melon Mambo 1/8 Stitched Ribbon

Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue

31 Days of Halloween - Day 29 - Big Ole Eyeball

Day 29... Gimme an EYE!!! Look how cool this card is!

This card uses the 'necked' tree from the sheltering tree stamp set to create the bloodshot eyeball. How stinkin cute is that?

I took a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 cherry cobbler card stock and used the layering circles framelits to cut a circle (approx. 2 3/4 inches) for an ''eye'' in the upper left corner. I used another of the layering circles (approx. 1 1/2 inches) to cut an "iris" from marina mist card stock. And the smallest black circle was cut using the owl builder punch cut from basic black card stock.

I took a piece of whisper white card stock that measured 3 x 5 1/2 and stamped the branches of the 'necked' tree in cherry cobbler ink to create the bloodshot effect that would show from behind the circle that I had cut out of the cherry cobbler card stock. Then, I did the same in marina mist ink on the marina mist circle to give that circle some dimension as well.

I took the spooky eye stamp from the Jar of Haunts stamp set and stamped it randomly on the cherry cobbler card stock in cherry cobbler ink to create a subtle background. The spider came from the Mr. funny bones stamp set and I stamped it in basic black archival ink. I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Mr. funny bones stamp set in white embossing powder.

I adhered the whisper white behind the cherry cobbler and then the marina mist in the center of the circle to create an "eye". I added the black circle to create the pupil and dabbed a bit of white pen for an accent.

Lastly, I rounded the corners of the top of the card to give it a bit of a smooth finish.

If you would like to watch the video, you can do that here.

Tomorrow is probably my most favorite project of all... so be sure to check back with me then.

Until next time...

31 Days of Halloween - Day 23 - Wreath of Candy

I told you that I was not going to be using the cookie cutter Halloween set for a while, didn't I? I promised. And I try not to break my promises. Other than the smaller images in that set, I won't be using it for any of the future projects either. *Gasp* I'm trying to use sets other than that one and the Jar of Haunts. However, I did use the candy corn and sentiment from the jar of haunts for this card.  Now I'm not saying they are gone for good, just that I am branching out with other sets.  We need to use all of our stamps. We don't want anyone getting jealous. ~Wink

Here is our subtly Halloween-y card using a traditionally non-Halloween stamp set.

This one was a fun one. I saw the idea of a gray wreath on pinterest. It was hung on a door and had ghosts and witches as decorations on it. I took the gray color as inspiration and came up with this card. It is just whisper white card stock with a touch of Halloween night DSP and a faux bow. What's a faux bow? Ahhhh.... young grasshopper.... watch and learn here.

I actually learned the faux bow from my amazing upline, France Martin. She rocks. Hard Core.

Let's see... what does my crystal ball say we have in store for tomorrow? "Owl" keep it to myself...

Until next time...

Jen
